Copy Editing
Technical polish: grammar, punctuation, syntax, consistency
across names and terminology, basic fact-checking, adherence to
your style guide.

Proofreading
The final pass before publication. Typos, formatting
inconsistencies, errors introduced during layout — caught before
the book goes out into the world.
